Crystala Armagost attended Carnegie Mellon University where she received her BFA in Fine Art with concentrations in both printmaking and sculpture. Her works reflect a wide interest in media through the use of drawing, printmaking, texture, collage, and found object. Her two most recent series of drawings are “portraits” of vintage record players and other sound equipment, and obscure hand operated kitchen tools. The drawings represent the strangeness, or possible recognition, of obsolete objects and the relationships that different viewers form with them either through memory or symbolic meaning. Recent shows include “In the Making: 250 Years/250 Artists at FE Gallery in Lawrenceville, and “Sketch It Out” at APW Gallery in New York City. Crystal resides in Greenfield with her husband, and her three children – two cats and a green iguana.
